DC Powered Air Conditioner Unit - Experiences?

Greetings All,

Can anyone chime in with their experiences with a DC powered A/C units? I have a small shed (10x16) that I would like to convert to an office...It probably would be cheaper to trench a 120v line out to it...but then I'd have to worry about permits...and it wouldn't be as much "fun"

There appears to be a few options out there - 48v-72v mini splits, 12v+48v RV/Camper Roof mounted units, etc...the used market for RV/Camper roof mounts seem plentiful and much more affordable - any major cons on this route?

I was thinking if I setup the system for 48v or 72v it should simplify the system - panels ($89 home depot specials) set in series + a bunch of salvaged/junkyard deep cycle batteries in series...with enough batteries, a good controller and the batteries housed in the (A/C'ed shed - set to 80F when not in use) - the batteries should last a while? All this would need to be calculated of course...but looking for experiences from folks who used DC powered AC units and if they had any recommendation first :-)
