Solar setup for backpacking?

Solar setup for backpacking? I'm planning to go backpacking, and would like to work from my laptop. Ideally I'd like to be away from power outlets for up to a week at a time, and would need to run the laptop for several hours every day. I would be on foot, so whatever solution I come up with has to be reasonably light. Is there a solar setup that can realistically keep my laptop running? submitted by /u/Acrolith [visit reddit] [comments] http://ift.tt/2gs40uU

just sold a deal for $27 a watt

just sold a deal for $27 a watt well, almost, anyways. So a lady calls up asking for a "commercial quote" for what turns out to be a 3 panel array on top of a new building. she initially spoke to my colleague; he spent half an hour trying to explain that it wasn't a project we were interested in. she is angry and determined and will not take "no thanks" for an answer. so, to get her off the phone he tells her to email him the files she has (design sheets/ blueprints for the firehouse). three days later we're in the office and he's going on about how this crazy Russian lady won't stop calling and texting his cell phone, so after he explains what's going on I offer to help him out. when I call her we go back and forth for about 10 minutes, with her demanding a quote and asking why no one will give her one. she is angry and Russian and not interested in any of my explanations. eventually I got bored of arguing with her so I said I'd take a loo

Buying a house with owned solar - how do I evaluate the kWh and other things to know?

Buying a house with owned solar - how do I evaluate the kWh and other things to know? I'm currently in the process of buying a home in Northern California with owned solar panels installed in October of 2016. Unfortunately the owner of the home passed away and their relatives don't know anything about the panels or the system at all. The home inspector said that they installed a new electrical panel, and there are 26 total panels on the roof, not that I can tell what measurements or size or anything they are. Here's a picture the inspector took to show that they were dusty. They'd also been installed "flat" instead of angled. http://ift.tt/2xLXRxo Is there any way to calculate how much power these would produce? Is there something I can look at on the box? submitted by /u/gaqua [visit reddit] [comments] http://ift.tt/2whssVn

Second Hand 3.6kW System for ~$2000 - Worth it?

Second Hand 3.6kW System for ~$2000 - Worth it? Hi, I live in West Japan and interested in installing a solar system. Grid-tie feed in incentives are only applicable here when the installation is carried out by a certified installer. I would pay about 10-15k$ for a new system like this, installed. Now, $2000 sounds pretty good to me, even if I have to leave out the incentives. My questions now are: Since this is a used system. Would you consider it a good price? I know there is a limited lifetime on these components (especially inverter and panels). What do you think about the given system? Since I run this without feedin tariffs, would it make more sense to invest into a backup system too? What size would you recommend would make sense for a household that uses about 200kh/w on avg per month (i know I can't feed all of it, just to imporve the bill a bit). Here are the specs of the system: All from year 2011: MD - HH 215 T 215Watt Panasonic Panel (17 Panels) PV - PC40A5
